Pin Tangle tracks online resources, news and information which relate to contemporary and historical textiles, embroidery and crazy quilting, the fiber and book arts including studio and visual journals.

    A little back story

I am trained in the visual arts and started teaching in the Textiles workshop at the Canberra School of Art (which is part of the Australian National University ) while doing my Masters degree. I have always been interested in textiles and technology. In 1997 my career shifted to teaching Web Design at the Art school. It is in this capacity that I first encountered blogs in 2000. After much reading of blogs and hesitancy I started In a minute ago as a blog  in January 2004.

In November 2008  In a minute ago became Pin Tangle.

    Comments Policy

All comments made here are moderated by me.  I do not censor I just cull out any spam that appears. Comments that are racist, sexist or made by people who like to offend in order stir up trouble are also simply deleted and ignored.

    Other Places I am Online

I maintain a community space, Stitchin Fingers which is open to anyone interested in textiles so if you like the look of it feel free to join.

My main static website is In a minute ago it houses a hand embroidery Stitch dictionary. Each stitch is illustrated with step by step photos and I have categorised each stitch as to its degree of difficulty so if ever you need a stitch guide you will find it there.

For Crazy quilters In a minute ago houses eye candy which includes I dropped the button box crazy quilt and 8 inch blocks, there are also other crazy quilted projects

There are also a number of projects that were run in order to raise money for charity. The All that Jazz  crazy quilts were a fundraiser for survivors of the Katrina hurricane disaster. Members of the Southern Cross Crazies discussion group and the Canberra Crazy Quilters, at the First National Crazy Quilt Retreat were invited to decorate a bra in order to raise funds for Breast cancer research. Images of all the bras are in the Can-bra gallery

I work at the Computer Arts Studio at the School of Art, which is part of the Australian National University.

For those students that drop me an email because they have to write about a contemporary fiber artist. Firstly I have an extended about page and an artist’s statement  on my static website In a Minute Ago  you will find information about my work. If you really can’t find an answer to a question feel free to email me but I won’t write your essay for you. If the answer is on this or the about page I will simply redirect you back to these pages to look, think and write up as that is what research involves, and yes you can have an image or two for your essay providing you credit me as the source.

Wipes brow and thinks to self that should keep everyone happy. Enjoy the blog!
