CQ Detail 99

Detail 99 is another example of edging some lace.

Stitches:

The top side of this lace is decorated with a line of straight stitches arranged in an ‘L’ formation which have beedn further decorated with detached chain stitches and French knots.

The bottom edge of the lace is decorated with pistil stitches arranged in small fan shapes

Thread:

Perle thread #5, rayon thread, and a hand dyed cotton the same weight and thickness as perle #8

Placement on block:

On block 14 this seam runs along the edge of piece 7

Lace:

The lace is a piece of vintage lace which was stained so I hand dyed it

Dyes:

Procion cold water dyes for the cotton thread and the lace

The back story:

This article is part of a series documenting the quilt blocks in my crazy quilt called “I dropped the Button box”. Every second day, on this blog  I discuss part of a block.
