For the Love of Stitching Sampler - Band 143

This band of stitching is another experiment worked in two parts. This row is worked liked chevron stitch, along top section of the row and on the bottom of the row instead of working a chevron stich foot I worked half of a Cretan stitch. Next I worked stepped threaded running stitch over the top. It was an interesting experiment!

Thread:

The rusty/red/orange thread is perle cotton #5, and the green is regular stranded cotton floss which is laced with yellow rayon ribbon floss.

Fabric:

This section is worked on cream dress linen which is an uneven weave.

Size:

All samples are 15 cm (6 inches) wide and stitched together in one long band sampler.

The sampler is currently 44 ft 5 inches or 533 inches (1353.83 centimetres) or 14.8 yards  (13.53 metres) long and still being added to.

Date:

I started this section of the sampler in 2004 and completed it early 2005.

The back story:

This series is documenting a hand embroidered band sampler, which now measures over 44 feet long. All related posts are listed in the category For the Love of Stitching band sampler.  For how and why this very long band sampler came to be made see the Introductory Post
