Stitch Explorer challenge for November

The challenge for this month is to combine two or more of the embroidery styles of your choice in one piece. The idea is to think out or the box

For instance combine needleweaving and chicken scratch, or Pattern darning and found objects or Asissi and laid work patterns.

These are just a few ideas but the combinations and possibilities are endless.

Lately I have been exploring stitching a small cloth that I originally patchworked together then taking the silhouettes of a leaf shapes stitched in the negative space like you would in Assisi embroidery. Only this time I worked off the grid and stitches are definitely not evenweave stitches.

I am still working on the piece so I will see how it develops.

Note: If you click on the images it will take you to a larger photo

Also some people wanted a list of the challenge ahead and some did not. I have an outline of the challenge. It is in a PDF file so for those that want to download it and have it to hand they can. For those that want the surprise each month, DO NOT download it as I will announce the challenge as per normal. People can download the Stitch Explorer challenge list here.

How to participate in the stitch explorer challenge

Stitch some samples that push this embroidery style

Blog it or put images somewhere online where people can see them. If you use flickr send them to the Stitchexplorer group

Come back to this post and leave a comment with your web address in it so that people can visit and see what you have done.

Note if when you leave a comment, if you fill in the form with your URL, it means that when people click on your name they will be taken to your blog.

The full guidelines for the challenge are here

Have fun with this months challenge!

Sharon, How amazing! I have recently finished a piece of stitching that fulfilled the criteria - and coincidentally I chose gum leaves for my voided shape. I used the Assisi style and needleweaving as well as some foursided stitch from the Casalguidi embroidery.
I have just added the image to my blog.
