New thread twists for stocking fillers

I am feeling very self satisfied as I have managed to get some thread packs  into my store and a new stocking filler line prices at an economical stocking filler price of $10.00 (US) for 100 meters of thread!

I think beginners might find them very useful because experimenting with different threads can be expensive, as you would normally have to buy a whole skein of each type of thread. The same applies to crazy quilters as often you variety of colour texture and sheen. You do not necessarily need a lot of any one thread  but blocks do get a bit boring is just one type of thread is used. As a crazy quilter you don’t need not quanity.

So it occurred to me to make up thread twists with dozens of different threads. For the price of just a few skeins you get to play with a bundle of threads of luscious colours and many different textures.

Each thread twist contains silk, cotton, rayon and wool thread (no stranded cottons). I have gone light on the rayon because beginners have trouble with it but i have included a few strands to try.

As far as possible each thread twist consists of threads that are all different. Threads range from fine (the same thickness as 2 strands of embroidery floss) to chunky (the same thickness as 8 strands of embroidery floss).

All threads have a soft and manageable drape so that twisting them around a needle makes experimental hand embroidery an interesting journey rather than a battle.  Most are hand dyed by me. Sometimes I add a special thread – like a metallic – to add a little more zest to the bundle.

There is great variety in these thread twists. You may find a similar thread twist but no two will be identical. Over the next couple of weeks I will add some more to my store but check pout what I have now.

1 Meter thread twists have at least 100 threads cut to 1 meter (39.5 inches) lengths.   As a rule of thumb as it depends on the particular stitch you work generally 1 meter of thread is enough to work a line of stitching on a sampler that is 6-8 inches wide, or embellish a seam on a crazy quilting project.

Worried that one metre is just not enough? 2 Meter thread twists have at least 50 threads cut to 2 meters (79 inch) lengths. This is for those who may want more than one meter to cover more area in stitching.

Also of course there are a few creative thread packs available too. So pop over to my artfire store and take a look at the latest stuff on offer from me.

NOTE ADDED LATER:

Twisties are all gone! I will try and get some more in the shop in the next few days. Some threads packs are available however … off to make more twisties…
