WOW. I was looking for instructions for turkey work and Googled "embroidery stitches" and found this site. I'll be back. It is fascinating. I am about to embark on a big project, a crazy quilt made from old washable silk blouses I've been collecting from thrift shops for several years, for my king size bed. Does anyone have any ideas for making a project like this easier to handle? I plan to use 18 inch squares and can't decide whether an iron-on backing or stabilizer would be best to use, or just baste the silk pieces to a muslin square. Any help would be appreciated. I live in Alaska.
Hi Carol I would baste the pieces to muslin and keep the blocks a manageable size. If you browse the crazy quilting category in this blog you will find heaps of links to resources.
