Introducing block 3
I am up to documenting the third block (placed on this grid )
I think this block is also a little more interesting than the first block. It is in the I dropped the Button Box gallery, but I hope people will enjoy seeing it again in more detail. I must admit to be enjoying this process of documenting this quilt as I remember just how much I enjoyed making it. I think it was the ‘all pieces different’ aspect that was a challenge. I did not want it to look a huge hodge podge of messy chaotic glitzy stuff! I really enjoyed the challenge of pulling it into some sort of control. So much so that I am resisting starting a 2011 crazy quilt - or The Button Box 10 Years On. I console myself with the fact that the diamond quilt is nearly done.
Fabric content:
Piece 1: Is a cotton covered with a lace. The lace is a trim from a blouse. The blouse was a red polyester which you can just see at he edge of the lace.
Piece 2: Part of a silk tie (one of Jerry’s)
Piece 3: Polyester
Piece 4: Part of a polyester tie
Piece 5: Cotton velvet.
Piece 6: Polyester cotton mix found in a swatch book scavenged from a curtain shop here in Canberra.
Piece 7: Cotton covered with lace
Item Count:
As I explained in my introductory post this is a Y2K quilt as it has 2001 different bits on or in it. My definition of ‘bits’ was either a different fabric, lace, braid, charm, buttons or ribbon.
Fabric: 7
Lace: 4
Buttons: 11
Total items on block: 22
Total tally on Quilt so far 64
