For the Love of Stitching Sampler - Band 66

This ‘band is actually two bands. The first is of cable chain stitch and the second is a Triple Palestrina stitch

Thread:

The cable chain is worked in a hand dyed  cotton (crochet thread), and the triple Palestrina is a hand dyed soft Danish cotton which feels and works up in a similar way to coton a broder and is matt. It is approximately the same thickness and weight as perle 8

Fabric:

This section of the sampler is worked on tea towel linen which is not quite an even weave.

Dyes:

Procion cold water dyes for the threads

Size:

All samples are 15 cm (6 inches) wide and stitched together in one long band sampler.

The sampler is currently 44 ft 5 inches or 533 inches (1353.83 centimetres) or 14.8 yards  (13.53 metres) long and still being added to.

Date:

This section of the sampler is dated 1996 - Jan 1998

The back story

This post is part of series documenting a hand embroidered band sampler, which now measures over 44 feet long and is still growing as I still stitch it. I have more of the back story in my introductory post  and a photo of the section that I am currently documenting here.

All posts in the series are in the category For the Love of Stitching band sampler If you are thinking of working a sampler I have answered a few questions about width and fabric choice.  I explained how I back and join the sections of sampler together in this article

If you looking for a stitch guide to hand embroidery stitches, instructions can be found in my stitch dictionary
