CQ Detail 60

This detail was created by placing a button on top of a crochet medallion. I found a table runner in a thrift shop which was partly complete. In the bag was a number of these crochet medallions some stitched together others still single. I dyed them all different colours and it feels like I have been using them in crazy quilting projects ever since!

Placement and Foundation Fabric:

This is in the top right hand corner of the block. You can see the whole block here, in the post where I introduced block 9 and at the same time find our what fabrics I used on the block.

Dyes:

Procion cold water dyes for the crochet cotton motif

Buttons:

The Button is a contemporary button found at a craft store

The back story:

This crazy quilt block is part of my “I dropped the Button box” quilt. I am documenting this crazy quilt detail by detail, every second day. You will find information about this series of articles and the quilt here  and all articles in the series are categorised under Crazy Quilt  details

For a stitch guide to hand embroidery stitches, instructions can be found in my stitch dictionary
