Introducing block 25 on the "I dropped the button box" quilt

I cannot believe I am at block 25! Click on the image and you will see a nice big photo to enjoy. That means when I have covered the details on this block we are one quarter of the way through documenting this quilt. I hope readers have enjoyed this process as I must admit such a detailed review has been very satisfying for me. OK, that is enough of feeling smug, it's on to the next block! 

Fabric content:

  • Piece 1: Vintage silk
  • Piece 2: Silk
  • Piece 3: Cotton
  • Piece 4: Cotton
  • Piece 5: Polyester soft furnishing fabric 
  • Piece 6: Cotton

 

Item Count: 

This quilt is a Y2K quilt which is made up of 2001 different elements. By element I mean either a different fabric, lace, braid, charm, buttons or ribbon. This count is an ongoing count of items and pieces in the quilt blocks documented so far.

  • Fabric: 6
  • Lace, braid and ribbon: 3
  • Buttons: 9
  • Total items on this block: 18

Total tally of items on the quilt so far is 491

When I started the series about each detail on the “I dropped the button box” quilt, I numbered the blocks on this grid. The same post shows the whole quilt too.

Hi Sharon - design question

If you are making a crazy quilt of 24 8" blocks, most of which are medium - dark in tone,
will a light or dark colored sashing set them off best? The edging will be black Dupioni
prairie points, and the border will be a very bright pink. The blocks all have various
shades of pink in them.

Hi Anna
I dont really have a formula I would make up the blocks first then decide on the sashing - sorry I can be of more help but it really is a case of seeing the colours etc and then deciding.
