The big list of 2012 TAST challengers

My Special request
Before I launch into this Please I ask everyone to link back to Pintangle so that people who want to join in know about it.
I ask you to be inclusive rather than exclusive.
This challenge is not a closed clique where people in 'the know' are aware of it. It is for all so please help spread the word and do it as often as people often miss hearing about it first time around!
Am I too late to sign up?
Sign up is still open. Leave a comment on the challenge page and dont forget the web address of either blog, flickr account or stitchin fingers page. I will add it to the big list
When does it start?
January 3rd.
What is this challenge about again?
Each Tuesday I will post a challenge stitch. The idea is that you work a sample, experiment a bit. Next, photograph your sample, and put it on the web. Then return to Pintangle to leave a comment and in a comment tell everyone where they can see your sample.
What does it Cost?
The challenge is free.
Are beginners welcome?
All skill levels are welcome
So I have to visit your blog each Tuesday?
Yes or you can have it delivered daily to your email inbox. If you find this an easier way to keep in touch, please sign up. Something new is published daily. The button is in the side bar
How come last time Tuesday is Monday for you?
I live in Australia and will publish each Tuesday morning in Australia. For many people this will mean hey see it appear on Monday evening. Australia crosses the International date line earlier that is all.
I dont have a blog or flickr site can I join
Yes you can join. If you dont have a blog, flickr account or stitching fingers page you are more than welcome to join. Since half the fun is about sharing and see what others stitch too I actively encourage you to start a flickr site, or join stitchin fingers or start a blog. The easiest thing is to do is to join Stitchin fingers. It is free and I run it , you can post photos there and there is a community of peopel who are only too willing to help youif you need it.
Can I do some stitches and not others?
Yes If you want to swing in and out of the challenge as a busy life dictates that is fine.
What do I stitch on?
Fabric ... no seriously you can stitch on anything you choose. I usually use a 25cnt or 27cnt evenweave linen but if you look at my band sampler I not only use linen but I also use Aida, and even regular dressmaking fabrics. I hope to write a more detailed post about my band sampler in the next week or so for those that are interested in making a band sampler.
What is the Project?
there is not particular project at all. Th eidea is experiment with stitches. They can be small samples on scraps of fabric or doodle cloths. Some people are going to make a band sampler, others are making fabric books, others working the challenge stitches on a crazy quilt block or project, while others are going to use fabric postcards, and ATCs (Artist Trading Cards). The challenge is to work the stitch. The format or project is totally up to you.
Do I have to write my post in English?
No today we have the marvellous tool of Google Translate. English readers can translate what you write using it.
Will you re-run TIF (Take it Further)
For folks who are a bit more experienced with a needle I will be encouraging people to not only take a stitch and work a simple sample but to take it further and push it creatively. For experienced stitchers this will be a challenge in itself.
Other groups and networks
You can if you wish also share your explorations on stitchin fingers TAST group and the flickr TAST site
If you are not on the list.
Have you registered? If not leave a comment with the address of either blog, flickr account or stitchin fingers page. You will find the Comment link under the title of this post. I will add it to the big list
Or
Could be I made a mistake. If so I am sorry. There are lots of links to check, copy and paste and organise sorry. Please leave it again in the comments.
Or
You said you were interested but forgot to leave a link to your blog, flickr or stitchin fingers page.
Or
When I checked your link I got a no such page error probably through a typo in the address. Please check your web addy again.
Or
When I checked your link I got a message to say that your blog is private. If your blog is private that is fine but people cant read or see anything on your blog. I dont want to waste readers time sending them to a link they cant read. Set up a flickr page or stitchin fingers page if you want to keep a private blog, but to share I need the address of a site where you are happy to be public.
Or
If you dont have a blog, flickr account or stitching fingers page I have not included you in the list. You are more than welcome to join the challenge but the reason this list is created is so that once the challenge is running, all participants can see what others have done. Since half the fun is reaching through the screen and sharing with other stitchers I actively encourage you to start a flickr site, or join stitchin fingers or start a blog. The easisit thing is to join Stitchin fingers. It is free and I run it , you can post photos there and there is a community of peopel who are only too willin gto help youif you need it.
Or
If you dont have a blog or flickr account set up yet. Obviously I cant link to something that does yet exist. Big hint- If this technology is new to you set it up and then explore and learn how to use it now as dealing with learning to blog and a stitching challenge can be... lets say... a challenge!
... the master list of Participants in the 2012 TAST challenge has been moved now here under community challenges
